Embassy of Washington DC collaborated with Chinmaya Mission (Somnath) to present at its Centre at Chantilly, Virginia, a yoga workshop titled 'Interactive Yoga Workshop' as a Curtain-Raiser to the 1st International Day of Yoga (June 21,2015), attended by about 100 people ,including young children. The event presented Yoga Experiential Sessions including Asanas, Pranayamas and Meditation Formulas, preceded by devotional prayers and a Talk on 'Yoga for Leafing a Joyful Life' by Mission's Yoga Instructor Jay Kalathil.

Embassy Representative on this occasion briefed the audience about the Government of India's plan to celebrate the 1st International Day of Yoga across all countries of the world, including the USA, at a large scale and about initiatives being taken by the Embassy to organize more such IYD pre-curser events in collaboration with other organizations, culminating into the day long June 21 event at the National Mall grounds, CM's Director Ramesh Gola and Yoga Coordinator Rajaram also spoke at the event on the significance of Yoga.
