Embassy of India Reception for the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) and Greater Washington Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (GWAPI) on May 3, 2017 

The Embassy of India organized a Reception for leaders and members of AAPI and GWAPI from across various states in USA, at the Embassy in Washington D.C. on May 3, 2017. AAPI is the largest Indian American organization representing over 100,000 physicians of Indian origin in US. AAPI organized 2017 Legislative Day on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C on May 3, 2017. 

Attended by US Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (Democrat-Illinois), Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal (Democrat-Washington) and Maryland State Delegate Aruna Miller, the Embassy Reception witnessed participation of 150 leaders and members of AAPI/GWAPI, media, think tanks, Congressional staffers and other members of Indian diaspora. 

Ambassador Reenat Sandhu, Charge d'Affaires, Embassy of India recognized the leadership of AAPI and GWAPI and their significant role in strengthening the India-US partnership, especially in health sector.  AAPI presented “Distinguished Community Service Award” to Congressman Krishnamoorthi and Congresswoman Jayapal for their outstanding and exemplary service to the community. In their remarks, Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi and Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal also recognized the success of Indian American community in strengthening the India-US friendship and noted the critical role played by AAPI and GWAPI community in the US.
