Ms. Satwant Reddy, Secretary, Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals, Government of India led a delegation of Indian chemicals and petrochemicals industry to New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia and Boston on January 23-27, 2006. 

The delegation held meetings with senior representatives of a number of US chemical and petrochemical companies including Rohm and Hass, Merck, Du Pont, Pfizer, ISP Chemicals etc. It also met with officials of leading US pharmaceutical companies and discussed the new patent regime in India and issues relating to data protection for pharmaceutical products. 

The delegation invited US companies to participate in IndiaChem 2006, an international exhibition and conference of chemicals, pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals and plastics, pharmaceutical technologies, process plant machinery, control and automation systems machinery scheduled to be held in Mumbai on November 8-10, 2006. Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and US India Business Council jointly hosted the visit of the delegation.
