Indian wins US Open Racquetball championship

Sudhanshu Harshavat, who represented India in the Promus US Open Racquetball Championship, won the Gold Medal by beating Joe Deroche of United States, in straight games 15-11, 15-7.  He also won the silver medal in the Men's 24 under C&D amateur category.  This year's tournament, held in Memphis, Tennessee, was the biggest ever, with nearly 650 top pro and amateur athletes representing 23 different countries participating in the tournament.

Sudhanshu Harshavat, a 23-year old Systems Engineer with Motorola, Chicago, started playing this sport barely a year ago.  Within this short time, he has won honours at State, Regional, National, and now International level.  His achievements have got him many Indian as well as American sponsors, including the Head Sports, which also sponsor Andre Agassi (Tennis) and Jahangir Khan (Squash), besides Polo Builders National Bankcard Corp. etc.  Sudhanshu plans to go professional in this sport and hope to make this sport popular in India one day.
