Deputy Chief of Mission Amb. Reenat Sandhu

 Mrs. Reenat Sandhu took up her assignment as Minister (Commerce) at the Embassy of India in Washington DC in February 2014 and has been designated as the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of India, Washington DC in January 2017.

A career diplomat, Mrs. Reenat Sandhu joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1989. She has served in various capacities in several Indian Missions abroad including Moscow, Kyiv, Colombo, New York and Geneva. She has also served in headquarters at the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi, on the Investment & Trade Policy, Projects, East Europe and Sri Lanka desks.

Prior to joining this Embassy, she was Deputy Permanent Representative of India to the WTO in Geneva, handling multilateral trade negotiations.

Born on June 7, 1964, Mrs. Sandhu is a graduate in economics from the Delhi School of Economics. Over the years, much of her work has focused on trade and commerce, including her stint in Washington in the late 90’s.

She is married to Mr. Taranjit Singh Sandhu, High Commissioner of India, Colombo and have two children.
