PRESS RELEASE - Indian Embassy Organizes Visa Camp and Interaction with Indian Community at Raleigh, North Carolina on Saturday, May 2, 2015

1. In pursuance of its objective of providing easy, efficient and quality consular services to the applicants, Embassy of India, Washington DC, through its Service Provider Cox and Kings Global Services (CKGS), organized a Visa Camp at Raleigh (Morrisville), North Carolina on Saturday, May 2, 2015. The Camp was held in the premises of the Hindu Society of North Carolina Temple with support from the Hindu Society of North Carolina, Triangle Gujarati Association and Federation of Indian Associations (FIA).

2. The day long Visa Camp was inaugurated by Mr. N. K. Mishra, Minister in-charge of Community Affairs at the Embassy, and was attended by Prasanna Shrivastava, First Secretary (Consular), Dr Neeraj Agarwal, President, Hindu Society of North Carolina, Mr. Mehul Shah, President, Triangle Gujarati Association and Mr. Ankur Vaidya, President, Federation of Indian Associations, among others. During the Visa Camp, CKGS processed 225 applications for Indian Visa, OCI and Renunciation Certificates, which were received from applicants from Raleigh as well as the adjoining cities of Cary, Chapel Hill and Durham and also advised over 150 others on their consular applications.

3. During the interaction with the Indian American Community, Minister (Community Affairs) conveyed greetings of the new Indian Ambassador Mr. Arun K. Singh to them. Acknowledging the role of the Community in strengthening the India-US bilateral relations, the Minister urged them to remain an active partner in promoting the strategic relationship which has got a new dimension and dynamism in last one year. He also encouraged the Community members to associate with the Indian Embassy in celebrating the first International Day of Yoga on June 21, 2015. The event was also attended by Mr. Steve Rao, Council Member at Large of the town of Morrisville. The members of the Community welcomed the Embassy's initiative to bring the Visa Camp to their area.
