Union Minister of Power to Visit Chicago and New York

Minister of Power Shri Sushilkumar Shinde is leaving for Chicago and New York, on a five day visit from 19th to 23rd September, 2011. He is accompanied by a high level delegation which includes senior officers of the Ministry of Power and CMDs of Power Finance Corporation, Rural Electrification Corporation and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.

In Chicago, Shri Shinde will address “U.S.-Indian Economic Opportunities and Synergy Summit” jointly organised by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and The Executives’ Club of Chicago, a hundred year old organisation of the USA. In New York besides addressing the Press Conference organised by Counsel General of India, he will meet Chief Executive Officers of various organisations organised by United States India Business Council (USIBC). He will also deliver closing keynote address at the 8th Annual India Investment Forum organised by Institutional Investor, FICCI and IIFL Institutional Equities.

The power sector of India will require USD 232 billion in the coming years. In view of the increasing opportunities provided by the Indian power sector, many investors in the USA have shown keen interest to invest in India. The visit of Mr. Shinde is expected to bring substantial investment in power sector in India in the years to come.
